Membership Renewal

ZVA keeps the memory of Zichydorf and its people alive on its web site through your generosity. It also provides information on many associated villages. Please help us keep the site alive by paying our annual membership fee of a paltry $10.

Membership is based on the calendar year. Please check your dues status on the web site. Log in and go to “Your Profile” in the user menu and scroll down to “Dues paid to the end of: ____” If you have not yet paid for 2018, please remit your dues using one of the options described on the Membership page. I will downgrade unrenewed members on the web site in April of each year to give you plenty of grace. From September on, I will credit new members for the following year. We are continually adding new content to the Members Only parts of the site. If you are not connected to the Internet, send your dues to the address below and I will update you. Thanks for contributing to our common cause.

Stefan Stader books

Most Banat researchers are familiar with the series Sammelwerk donauschwäbischer Kolonisten by Stefan Stader. In this series, Stader compiles data from card files about migrants passing through Vienna in the 1770s and, in many cases, connects it to other data recorded in the Banat, connecting the migrants to their origins. Unfortunately Herr Stader passed away in 2003 after completing the first six volumes. Volunteers completed Volume VII in 2011. At long last the final two volumes, T – Wa and We – Z, were completed this year and are now in the SGS library.

Blumenthal church records

We have recently acquired digital images of the church records for Blumenthal/Maslak/Masloc: baptisms 1771-1905, index 1771-1941; marriages 1771-1897, index 1771-1941; deaths 1771-1895, index 1771-1895 (10.8 GB) These records were donated to our collection by John F. Schambre of San Francisco CA. Since there was no cost to ZVA, this entire set of three DVDs may be purchased for $15 to cover materials and postage.

Online Zichydorf Familienbuch

The online Zichydorf Familienbuch has moved due to the closing of the host site. You can now find family trees at http://www.onlineofb.de/zichydorf/index.php?lang=en OR www.ortsfamilienbuecher.de/zichydorf/index_en.html. You can also find a few other Banat Familienbucher by scrolling down to Banat at www.online-ofb.de.

“Links” on ZVA Web Site

There are several new items on the Links page at our web site, including four group tour blogs, ZVA Facebook page, DVHH.org, Zichy family web site, and Zichy family on Wikipedia.

Totenbuch der Donauschwaben

This book lists the known Donauschwaben deaths during and after World War II. We have a copy in our library at the SGS, but it is now also online at http://www.donauschwaben.at/das%20totenbuch%20der%20donauschwaben.html

Obituary

Long time ZVA cheerleader Adam Niesner has passed away. He was born in Zichydorf in 1924 and came to Canada with his family in 1929.

Donations in US Dollars

When you use the Donation link on our web site, your donation is in US dollars. Our web software will only accommodate one currency. Since the bulk of our expenses and the majority of our income is in US dollars, this is the currency we have chosen.
